The department store will feature clothing, furniture, candy, toys, a gift department and more.

Sangertown Square Mall’s newest department store opens Saturday.

There will be a ribbon cutting for Boscov’s at 9:30 a.m. with music from the New Hart ford Marching Band, followed by a gala grand opening ceremony. Celebrity guest Debby Boone will take center stage in the store’s community auditorium.

We have hired more than 300 people to staff our new Sangertown Square store”, said Jim Boscov, company CEO. “We have found wonderful co-workers with the same friendly personalities and commitment to customer service that has made us the largest family owned department store in America.”

The new Boscov’s in Sangertown will be a full-service store featuring a Community Auditorium, Boscov said. Each Boscov’s store has a strong community outreach program that includes offering the store’s facilities to

help meet the community’s needs. Boscov’s Public Relations department works closely with the local notfor-profit organizations and agencies of all sizes in an effort to aid the community.

Best known for its unique retailing style, Boscov’s combines a vast assortment of fashion merchandise that includes both traditional labels and leading designer names. In addition to the range of departments normally found in department stores, Boscov’s also features furniture, oriental carpets, candy, toys, a gift department and more. They also provide services including a Vision Care to maintain the store’s ‘ fullline’ appeal.

“Many stores that call themselves department stores really have become specialty stores,” Boscov said. “But we still believe in the traditional department store, where in one shopping trip, you can find everything you want.”

Boscov’s will open today for a Gala Preview for a Great Cause to help more than 98 area charities raise funds for their organizations. Guests will receive a free gift, enjoy refreshments, entertainment and be the first to shop Boscov’s. Tickets will be available at the door for a $5 donation.
