Doris C. Mason, 81, of Morrisville

MORRISVILLE >> Doris C. Mason, 81, Old County Road and formerly of Canastota, died Tuesday night, Oct. 4, 2016, at the home of her daughter.

Born in Whitelaw on Dec. 7, 1934, she was a daughter of Howard and Erma Juno Whitmeyer. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a graduate of Canastota High School, Central City Business Institute and Madsion-Oneida BOCES nursing program. She married Charles E. Mason Jr. on May 21, 1955 in Canastota. Mr. Mason died Nov. 2, 2008.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Mason was a licensed practical nurse for Oneida City Hospital, and was formerly employed with Whitmeyer Construction and the former Gelose Department Store in Canastota. She was of the Presbyterian faith and was a former member of the Rebekahs and Canastota Sports Boosters.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sally Mason-Kennedy and her husband, Irving Kennedy of Morrisville; one son, Jack E. Mason of Waterville; three sisters, Jane Bowman, Judy Hazen and Ann Whitmeyer; one brother, Richard Whitmeyer of Sherrill; five grandchildren, Gunnar, Erin, Meagan, Adam, and Rosanna Kennedy; three great-grandchildren, Emma and Scarlett Snyder and Beatrix Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Howard J. Mason on April 3, 2004 and two brothers, Eugene and Louis Whitmeyer.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Satur- day from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Peterboro St., Canastota, with the Rev. Donna Chapman, officiating. Interment will be made in Lenox Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday.
