MUNNSVILLE >> Joan I. Mallery, 84, of 5020 Phillips Drive, Munnsville, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Crouse Hospital after becoming ill while a resident of the Sitrin Health Care Center in New Hartford.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1932, in Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter of Clarence J. and Evelyn Walker Shelley. Joan was a graduate of Minoa High School.

Joan was formerly married to Richard Mallery, a dear friend with whom she remained close until his passing on July 28, 2004.

She was employed as a bridal consultant for Pepi’s Bridal for 15 years, retiring in 1995. She was previously employed by Oneida City School District where she worked in the cafeteria.

Joan was of the Catholic Faith. She enjoyed ceramics and bowling.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathy (Jeffrey) Jacobs, of Syracuse, Kim Diefendorf, of Valdosta, Ga., and Kelly (Daniel) Vineall, of Munnsville; five grandchild­ren, Mallery Jacobs, Anthony Diefendorf (fiancé, Monique Day), Shelley (Jonathan) Cranfield, Morgan Vineall (significan­t other, Ryan Thorna), and Logan Vineall; and one greatgrand­son, Colton Cranfield.

Joan’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Sitrin Health Care Center, especially the Magnolia House, for the kindness and compassion shown to her during her stay there. They will be forever grateful.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt, where the Rev. Msgr. J Robert Yeazel will officiate. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributi­ons may be made in Joan’s memory to the Sitrin Health Care Center Activities Fund, 2050 Tilden Ave., New Hartford, N.Y. 13413. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida.
