Fun and spooky weekend events

With All Hallow’s Eve just days away, there are several planned Halloween celebratio­ns in both Madison and Oneida counties.

Here are just some of the events planned throughout the area.

The Oneida Recreation Department will hold its annual Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Recreation Center from 4-6 p.m. The party will include a haunted house, games, Trunk-orTreat, face painting, and refreshmen­ts. Open to ages 13 and under, the party will also include a costume contest for the following age groups:

• 3 and under - 4:30 p.m.

• 4-6 years - 5 p.m. • 7-10 years - 5:15 p.m. • 11-13 years - 5:30 p.m. Prizes will also be awarded to the top three decorated trunks for Trunk- or-Treat participan­ts.

Haunted Opera House

The Earlville Opera House will transform the historic 1892 theater into the Haunted Opera House on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 7-9 p.m.

The Haunted Opera House is free and open to the public, though donations are welcomed. Parents with young children should use their own judgment so children aren’t too scared. All children must be accompanie­d by an adult at all times.

Halloween party and parade at the Bolivar Road Elementary School on Friday,

Oct. 28.

Madison

The Madison Central School PTO will hold a Trunk-or-Treat part from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at the school. The next day, on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 8:45 a.m., there will be aHalloween 5K run.

Stockbridg­e

On Friday, Oct. 28, the Stockbridg­e Valley Central School District will host its Family Fall Festival Friday from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The event will include a costume contest, coloring contest, a Halloween craft station, and the showing of “Hotel Transylvan­ia 2.” Admission is $3 for a student, $5 for an adult, and a family price of $12. Participan­ts will get $1 off admission for bringing their own milk jug for the craft station.

On Monday, Oct. 31, there will be a Halloween Parade at 1:15 p.m.

Verona

The Turning Stone Resort and Casino is inviting Halloween enthusiast­s to join their fellow creatures at the fifth annual Three Nights of Horror on Oct. 27-29 at Exit 33. Each night will feature a ghastly Halloween Costume Contest with more than $5,000 in cash prizes. All Exit 33 venues will be gruesomely decorated.

Canastota

Roberts Street Elementary School PTOwill host a Trick-or-Treat party on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. Students grades pre-K- 6 are welcome and there will be a costume contest. Parents must accompany children and organizers request RSVP slips.

The Clockville United Methodist Church will hold a Trunk-or-Treat on Monday, Oct. 31 from 6-7 p.m.

The cars will be parked in the church parking lot across from the church on Clockville Road. The public is invited to attend. The event is sponsored by the Event Committee of the Clockville United Methodist Church.
