On Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m., Book Chat will meet in the Lawson Community Room to discuss “The Beekeeper’s Apprentice” by Laurie King. The book details the life of fictional Marry Russell. After losing her family in a tragic motor accident in California, 15-year- old Mary Russell goes to live with her aunt in Sussex, England. Wandering the Sussex Downs in April 1915, she literally runs across 54-year-old Sherlock Holmes, who has retired from his London practice and keeps bees. The two quickly become fast friends, Russell finding in Holmes a kindred spirit and steadfast teacher and Holmes finding in Russell a quick mind and a worthy apprentice in the art of detecting.

The Swamp Snappers, the Great Swamp Conservancy’s photography group, are the Featured Artists for November. Their photographs of wildlife, flowers and landscapes will be on display in the Lawson Community Room and will also be available for sale during the duration of the exhibit. A reception for the Swamp Snappers will be held on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.

The public is invited to create art from books on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. as Liz Metzger walks participants through folding book pages into a Fir Tree design. The library will provide all the supplies and directions needed to make this holiday decoration. Registration is required.

The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving.
