NYSPHSAA GIRLS TENNIS CHAMPIONSH­IPS >> Oneida’s doubles team of Brianna Laureti and Lauren Skibitski advanced into the second round of the state tournament with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Newburgh Free Academy’s Isabelle GoingsPerr­ot and Riddhi Patel. Laureti and Skibitski fell to No. 6 seed Katherine Orgielewic­z and Juliette Nask of Mamaroneck 6-4, 7-5 in the second round.

Girls Volleyball

CAZENOVIA 3, JORDAN-ELBRIDGE 0 >> The Lakers ad- vanced to the Section III Class B semifinals with Saturday’s 25-9, 25-15, 25-5 victory, powered by 25 aces. Maleigha Ellithorpe’s seven aces led the individual serving efforts while Danielle Tedesco and Molly Carges tallied seven kills apiece.

Cross Country

ADIRONDACK INVITATION­AL >> Camden sisters Elizabeth and Morgan Lucason turned in the top two efforts of the girls races at Saturday’s John Bernard Adirondack Cross Country Invitation­al. Elizabeth’s time of 19:02.1 was good for first place with Morgan following in second at 20:33.7 for the Blue Devils, who finished fourth as a team in the first girls race. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill took first as a team in the second girls race as well as the overall title, highlighte­d by a strong performanc­e from Allison Donnelly. The sophomore’s time of 21:12.0 was second in the race and sixth overall, while teammates Bayleigh Bell (4th, 21:52.9), Mary Breckenrid­ge (5th, 21:57.1), Rose Pitman (7th, 22:08.4) and Kathleen Guer- tin (10th, 22:22.7) all earned top-10 finishes in the race. On the boys side, Chittenang­o took second in the second race and fourth overall behind Mike Capeling’s fourth- place finish in the race in 18:07.7. Teammate Ersilio Cerminero followed in fifth (18:09.9) and Phillip Abell (10th, 18:33.0) rounded out the Bears’ top-10 finishers. Owen Walker’s secondplac­e finish in the second race (17:23.9) was good for fourth overall and helped VVS finish fourth in its race and ninth overall.
