Last spring the Cazenovia boys tennis team captured its first Section III title in over 20 years, winning the Class C1 championship.

This year, the Lakers move to Class B but still have title aspirations.

Coach Jennifer Hooley has a strong squad returning for her third year, led by Nate Romig. The junior, in his fourth year, went 13-1 last season and was undefeated in class and league play. Orson Sproule returns for Cazenovia as well and is preparing to play singles after starring in first doubles last year. Nick Barna, Liam Flannery, Teddy Coughlin and Daniel Gavilondo are also back and Mitch Romig joins the team and will look to contribute right away as a seventh grader.

Frank Mitchell retakes the helm of the Vernon-Verona-

Sherrill program. Returning for the Red Devils are Dalton Bates, Blaine Hale, Trent Klis, Calin Maguire, Richard Shawl Jr. and Jake Starke and Mitchell hopes his squad can finish with a winning record and qualify for sectionals as a team.

Eric Bird enters his 21st season as Camden’s coach coming off a 5- 9 campaign. Hunter Choquette returns in second doubles for the Blue Devils after earning a Tri-Valley League All-Star selection last spring and he will once again be joined by Andrew DePasquale in second singles, Sam Dunfield in third doubles, Carson Nedell in third singles and Alex Williams in third doubles/fourth singles as the team tries to be competitive and send players to sectionals.
