Police charge two in child sex case
Mandy Pope, 27, and Aaron Winn, 28, were charged in connection with sexual exploitation of a minor.
ONEIDA, N.Y. >> A tip alleging sexual exploitation of a child led to the felony arrest of two people by the Oneida City Police Department.
On Wednesday, March 22, the OPD, through a joint investigation with the Madison County Child Protective Services, arrested Mandy Pope, 27, and Aaron Winn, 28, both of Oneida.
Pope was charged with the following crimes:
•use of a child in a sexual performance, a class C felony;
•third-degree promoting prostitution, a class D felony;
•fourth-degree criminal solicitation, a class A misdemeanor;
•fourth-degree criminal facil- itation, a class A misdemeanor;
•endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor;
•first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a class A misdemeanor;
•prostitution, a class B misdemeanor. Winn was charged with: •third- degree criminal sex act, a class E felony;
•sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor;
•endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor;
•first- degree unlawfully dealing with a child.
On Saturday, March 11, police say Pope induced and exploited an underage victim to engage in a sexual performance with Winn, for money, at Winn’s residence.
“As far as we have been able to determine, this was an isolated incident,” acting Oneida City Police Chief Paul Thompson said. “We have no information that there are other victims. However, if there are other victims, we would encourage them to report any crimes or potential crimes to the OPD.”
Winn was arraigned and is scheduled to reappear at a later date.
Pope was arraigned and held at Madison County Jail without bail.
