ONEIDA >> The City of Oneida Assessors Office has announced that the deadline for STAR and Enhanced STAR, Veterans, Senior Citizen, Agricultur­al and Non-Profit exemptions will be May 1. This deadline is for the City of Oneida only.

Garden club will meet April 11

CAMDEN >> The McConnells­ville Garden Club will meet Tuesday, April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the W.H. Dorrance House, 32 Church St. The meeting will feature a traditiona­l English tea luncheon and a tour of the home, followed by a discussion on annuals, perennials and shrubbery suitable for Victorian-era gardens.

Shredding event set for April 22

SHERRILL >> The City of Sherrill will hold a spring shredding event for city residents on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Transfer Station, 210 Elmwood Place.

Board of education meetings planned

ONEIDA >> The Oneida City School District Board of Education will hold the following meetings in April: a special board meeting on Thursday, April 13 at 8 a.m. at the Administra­tive Office located at 565 Sayles St. and a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Costello Transporta­tion Center, 1136 Freedom Drive.

Community health event planned

ONEIDA >> Upstate Cancer Center of Oneida will sponsor a free event, “Plant the Seeds of Good Health,” on Saturday, April 8 at Wolf Oak Acres, 6470 Creek Road from 1-4 p.m. Community members are invited to visit with health, nature and nutrition experts. The event will feature food tasting, chair massages, crafting and other informatio­n for improved health. Other free activities include guided meditation, an intro to Tai Chi along with a motivation­al discussion by guest speaker and author, Dr. Kaushal Nanavati at 2 p.m. RSVP is required for Nanavati’s speech to: out- reach@Upstate.edu. Chicken barbecue set for April 8

SHERRILL >> Sherrill American Legion Post 230 Bowlers will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday, April 8 beginning at noon. The cost is $10 for chicken, baked beans, roll, and salt potatoes. The Legion is located at 168 E. Seneca St.

Rabies vaccinatio­n clinic offered April 8

CHITTENANG­O >> The Madison County Department of Health will hold a rabies vaccinatio­n clinic on Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Chittenang­o Fire Department, 417 Genesee St. Public Health Law requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets to be vaccinated by 4 months of age. Vaccinatio­ns are available free of charge to Madison County residents. A $5 donation is requested to help defray clinic costs. All animals must be at least 3 months of age and be properly restrained.

Paper-craft workshop planned at EOH

EARLVILLE >> Earlville Opera House will host a spring-themed papercraft workshop led by Diana Cassulis on April 6 from 7-8:30 p.m. Participan­ts are invited to bring their friends and a bottle of wine to enjoy a night of crafting. Heathcare forum offered April 4

EARLVILLE >> Madison-Chenango Call to Action will hold a forum, “Your Healthcare $$$ and Sense, “regarding proposed changes to the national healthcare system, on April 4 from 7-8:30 p.m., at the Poolville Community Center, 7484 Willey Road. The panel of experts includes Sean Fadale, CEO of Community Memorial Hospital; Chris McAvoy-Paul from the Chenango Health Network; Katie Mungari, Madison County Director of Community Health, and Baschki Robertson, a representa­tive from the Healthcare Workers Union. This is the first in a series of forums organized and presented by the volunteer citizens group Madison-Chenango Call to Action, a non-partisan group of advocates in southern Madison and northern Chenango counties.

VERONA >> The VVS Central School District seeks nomination­s for the 2017 VVS Wall of Distinctio­n. The Wall of Distinctio­n recognizes the individual achievemen­ts and contributi­ons of past graduates in areas including profession, athletics, business, community service, religion and the arts.
