400 graduate CTE programs
VERONA, N.Y. » More than 400 high school seniors who successfully completed Career and Technical Education programs at MOBOCES were recognized in a series of evening ceremonies.
Students were recognized by programs and had the opportunity to walk across the stage and receive their completion certificate from their CTE teachers. In addition to families, students were celebrated by superintendents, principals and administrators from their home school districts.
Graduates and their families heard congratulatory remarks from MOBOCES District Superintendent Jackie Starks.
“I applaud you for your accomplishments. It’s especially rewarding to know that in a few short years, you gained the fundamental skills that will enable you to be successful and give you a competitive edge,” she said.
During the ceremonies, 25 students were recognized with Industry Awards – recognition from their teachers and industry professionals of the students’ commitment to the field and potential for future success.
This year’s featured student speakers were: Nicholas Calabrese of Camden (Carpentry), Tyler Hummer of Madison (Engineering), and Jennifer Ivey of Rome (Equine and Animal Science). Each spoke about how their experiences in CTE have prepared them for college and a successful career.
Scholarships and awards were presented to 47 CTE seniors at a special ceremony last week.
