VERONA » Elmina R. Hull, 84, Route 365, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, where she had been a medical patient for the past eight days.

Born in New London, on Aug. 7, 1932, she was a daughter of Joseph and Ethel Keller Filey. A lifelong resident of the area, Elmina was a graduate of Verona High School, Class of 1950 and Morrisvill­e College, where she received her education and training for nursing. She married Donald A. Hull in New London on Aug. 8, 1953. Mr. Hull died on Feb. 16, 2002.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hull was employed, for 25 years, with Jo-Ann Fabrics of Oneida and formerly in the medical of- fice of Dr. Young B. Kwon and the business office of Beach Lumber. She was a member of the Verona United Methodist Church and attended the Durhamvill­e Baptist Church, a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Vienna Vesta Chapter 115, the Verona Fire Department Auxiliary, past treasurer of the Oneida County Volunteers Auxiliary, secretary of the Verona High School Alumni Associatio­n and enjoyed shopping, garage sales and her winters in Florida.

Surviving are her eternal friend spouse, Gene Sheffer of Central Square; her daughter and son-inlaw, Suzanne and Peter Geer of Verona; her two sons and daughters-inlaw, Donald A. and Terry Hull Sr. of Durhamvill­e and Jeffery W. and Brenda Hull of Verona; Gene’s children, Ken of Auburn, Calif., Virginia of High Falls and Lorri of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchild­ren, Donald A. Hull Jr., Joshua Geer, Kevin Geer, Savannah Geer, Brandon Tourville and Troy Kennedy; three great-grandchild­ren, Zayne, Oliver and Lainey Geer; her four sisters, Elsie and Thomas Vanfelow of Boonville, Ind., Linda Murphy of Rome, Cora and Paul Schwartz of New London and Mary and Bob Topecer of Youngstown, Ohio; her two brothers, John Filey of Rome and Lyle and Amy Filey of Youngstown, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by two sisters, Edith Fowler and Ethel Ella Filey and three brothers, Joseph, Henry and Alfred Filey.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida with the Reverends Robert Casler and Robert Wollaber, coofficiat­ing, Interment will be made in New Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 1-5 p.m., Sunday. Contributi­ons, in her memory, may be made to the Verona Fire Department Auxiliary, Volunteer Avenue, Verona, N.Y. 13478
