Victims named in fatal fire
ONEIDA, N.Y. » Police have identified the two victims of a house fire on Lenox Avenue in the City of Oneida.
Pauline M. Davis, 50, and James E. Davis, 50, were killed as a result of an early Saturday morning blaze.
Bothvictimswere removed fromthe scene and transported to the Onondaga CountyMedical Examiner’s Office, where autopsies were performed.
On July 8, 2017, at approximately 2:44 a.m., the Oneida Fire Department and the Oneida Police Department were dispatched to a reported fire at 315 Lenox Ave. The fire was in the secondfloor apartment of the two-family home; the first floor was unoccupied.
Firefighters entered the second floor residence to fight the fire, where they found the bodies of both Davises after they’d knocked down the flames.
Fire Chief Kevin Salerno says there was fire damage to the second floor and attic, with smoke and water damage throughout the structure.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
The Oneida Fire Department and the Oneida Police Department would like to thank the Munnsville Fire Department, the Madison County Fire Coordinator and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control for their assistance in fighting this fire and during the subsequent investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.
