Drum recital slated for July 16 for July 15

ROME » Corey Colmey Drum Instructio­n will hold the 8th annual Drum Recital on Sunday, July 16 at The Beeches, 7900 Turin Road from 12-2 p.m. The recital will feature students performing a mix of pop, rock, blues and country. Fairy House workshop set for July 21

CAZENOVIA » Cazenovia Public Library will host a Fairy House Building Workshop at Stone Quarry Hill Art Park on Friday, July 21 at 7 p.m. Families are invited to the Secret Garden Pavilion for an introducti­on to fairy lore through stories read aloud before building begins. All materials will be provided, including a base and an array of natural objects, such as bark, pinecones, pine needles, leaves, twigs, moss and acorns. Admission to Stone Quarry Hill Art Park is included in the program. Workshop size is limited to ensure program quality. Registrati­on is required. Free lunch program offered this summer

ONEIDA » Oneida City Schools will be offering a free summer feeding program Monday through Thursday each week through Aug. 17. Meals are available free of charge to everyone younger than 18. The cost to anyone 18 and older is $4 per meal. Locations will be Durhamvill­e Elementary School, 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and Willard Prior and North Broad Street schools from 12-12:30 p.m. Menus will be posted at the site locations. Parents should notify food service staff of any allergies their children may have.

Rabies vaccinatio­n clinic slated for July 11

GEORGETOWN » The Madison County Department of Health will hold a rabies vaccinatio­n clinic on Tuesday, July 11 from 5-7 p.m. at the Georgetown Highway Garage, Route 26. Public Health Law requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets to be vaccinated by 4 months of age. Vaccinatio­ns are available free of charge to Madison County residents. A $5 donation is requested to help defray clinic costs. All animals must be at least 3 months of age and be properly restrained.

Landmarks Day set

Exhibit open through Aug. 5

PETERBORO » The John Brown Lives traveling exhibit, “Dreaming of Timbuctoo” will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 12-4 p.m. each day until Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark, 5304 Oxbow Road. Admission is $5. The exhibit describes Gerrit Smith’s 1846 gift of 40 acres of land to each of 3000 black men in order to assure voting rights, the persons who moved to the Lake Placid area to work their land, and the ongoing archeologi­cal work at the site of the 120,000 acres that came to be known as Timbuctoo.
