HAMILTON » Frank E. Urben, 56, of River Road, peacefully passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2017 at his home.

He was born May 13, 1961 in Oneida, a son of Sigmund and Sharon Hayduke Urben. He was a graduate of Hamilton Central School and always remembered the good times he had as captain of the football team. When he was 21 years old he started his own construction company, known as Urben Roofing & Construction, through which he proudly served his community for over 30 years. He took great pride in his workmanship, and was always known for his honesty, fairness and dedication to giving his customers the very best. He had several other interests as well, including his passion and love of farming, where he raised farm animals and worked with the land. As a teenager he worked with neighboring farmers and throughout his lifetime he maintained a great respect for the life of a farmer.

He also enjoyed golfing with his friends, playing shuffleboard, and was an avid hunter. He could always be counted on to bring home a deer, and always shared the wealth of his hunting with others. Over the years he perfected his cooking skills and was able to provide family and friends with a home cooked gourmet meal that they would remember well. He enjoyed gardening, where he grew many vegetables and herbs. He made homemade apple butter and applesauce to give as gifts to others. He was apprecia- tive for his family and many friends and their commitment to him, especially during his recent illness and the challenges it presented.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Sharon and Ronald Stratton of Hamilton; step-mother, April Urben of Waterville; his children, Sara and Christopher Lane of Hamilton, Steven Urben and his fiancée, Lacey Canter of Earlville; sisters, Mary (David) St. Pierre of Erieville, Kelly Coates (her fiancée, Robert Thomson) of Cazenovia; brothers, Michael (Bonnie) Urben of Madison, Guy (Theresa) Urben of Hamilton, William (Meg) Stratton of Spencertown, Ronald (Michelle) Stratton, of Rome, Ryan Stratton (his fiancée Nicole Woodcock) of Hamilton; two grandsons, Eli and Vincent; granddaughter, Ryleigh; additional close family Joanne and Paul Tierney; and many friends.

Friends are invited to call at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, N.Y on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 8 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
