ONEIDA » Verona R. “Mayme” Dick, 94, a longtime resident of Oneida died Tuesday morning Aug. 8, 2017 in the Waterville Residentia­l Care Center where she had been a resident since Feb. 14, 2012.

Verona was born on March 11, 1923 in Waseca County, Minn. the daughter of August and Emma Radtke Waknitz. She attended Waldorf High School in Minnesota and moved to Oneida in 1946.

On Nov. 29, 1943, she married Herbert J. Dick in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Dick died on Sept. 8, 1991.

She was a longtime member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her daughter and son-inlaw, Linda and Kenneth Jackson of Oneida; her son, Herbert J. Dick Jr. of Minneapoli­s, Minn.; two brothers, Theodore (Audrey) Waknitz of Mankato, Minn. and Phillip (Virginia) Radtke of Bloomingto­n, Minn.; one sister, Dorothy (Dale) Baldwin of Albert Lea, Minn.; three sisters-inlaw, Frances Waknitz of Grimes, Iowa, Audrey Waknitz of Mankato, Minn. and Doris Waknitz of Pemberton, Minn.; one grandson, Joshua (Lisa) Jackson of Silver Spring, Md. and two great-grandchild­ren, Carter and Caleb Jackson and several nieces and nephews.

Verona was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Myron “Mike,” Armin and Benjamin Waknitz and James in infancy, one brother-in-law, Robert (Sally) Dick and two sisters-in-law, Ethel (Milford) Mack and Jane Dick.

Verona’s family would like to thank all the staff at the Waterville Residentia­l Care Center for the loving care and compassion shown to her over the last five years.

Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., Oneida with Pastor Katie Yahns officiatin­g. Private interment will be made in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton. Friends are invited and may call 6-8 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
