Mission Sunday celebrated Aug. 20
ONEIDA » On Sunday, Aug. 20 members of Oneida First, St. Paul’s and Sherrill United Methodist Churches will participate in Mission Sunday to pack more than 100 personalized Hospitality and Summer Fun Kits for developmentally disabled children, youths and adults in the Oneida area.
Volunteers from the community are welcome to join church members at 10 a.m. at ARC’s Winoa Hall at 719 Lenox Ave. to create, wrap and personalize kits.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Oneida and Sherrill United Methodist Church have committed ongoing relationships with those with developmentally disabilities. At 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of every month, Sherrill UMC hosts worship tailored to those with developmentally disabilities and in the fall St. Paul’s UMC hosts the Sunshine Choir and Wind Dancers of ARC as they practice for their annual holiday concert.

Vacation Bible School begins Monday
VERONA » “Maker Fun Factory” Vacation Bible School is coming to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Aug. 14-18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Curious kids have the chance to become hands-on inventors—and discover in the process that they are lovingly crafted by God. Kids will learn more about their God-given purpose through stories, skits, music, crafts, games, and snacks. On Friday, Aug. 18, the week finishes with a picnic supper at 6 p.m. and a closing program at 7 p.m. Children going into pre-K through grade 6 are welcome to participate, and those seventh grade and older are welcome to volunteer. Annualpie saleat Bouckville UMC
BOUCKVILLE » Bouckville Methodist Church will hold its annual pie sale during Antique Week, Aug. 17-19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Pies (whole or by the slice), baked goods and beverages will be available at the church on Route 20.
Senior ministry offered Wednesdays
VERONA » St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will hold a Christian Ministry for Seniors each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 4897 Old Oneida Road. There will be coffee and conversation, Bi- ble study, and at 10:30 a.m. a special program will be held. There will also be exercise and lunch at noon.
Golf tournament will benefit medical mission
ONEIDA » The 6th Annual Golf Tournament for the Nicaragua Medical Mission will take place Friday, Sept. 22 at Kanon Valley Country Club. Registration is at 11 a.m. with lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The fee of $90 per person includes lunch, cart and green fees, and dinner. There will be prizes for Team Best Score, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin. All proceeds will provide medications for the next Medical Mission.
Vendors needed for tag sale
CHITTENANGO » St. Paul’s Church is looking for vendors, people with home based business or someone looking to sell those items they have no need for anymore. The church’s Annual Tag Sale is set for Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Indoor spaces are available for $15 – the church will supply tables and chairs. Friendship Inn open each Thursday
MORRISVILLE » Friendship Inn at St. Joan of Arc Church offers a free weekly meal to the Morrisville community every Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. Nondenominational and open to all, regardless of financial need, Friendship Inn draws on a small army of volunteers who fulfill numerous tasks, from set-up, cooking, serving, to cleanup. Volunteers are always needed. Donations are welcome as well to supplement food offerings and to purchase equipment and supplies. Clothing donations accepted at St. John’s Church
ONEIDA » St. John’s Episcopal Church, 341 Main St., has been chosen by St. Pauly Textile, Inc. as a repository for used clothing. St. Pauly’s mission is to provide wearable clothing to people who need it, both in the United States and Third World countries. Items that can be collected include clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, blankets, curtains and stuffed toys. No rags or fabric scraps, pillows, toys or household goods are accepted. Donations are not cut up or shredded. Items should be placed in plastic bags (no larger than 13 gal. size) and placed in the chute of the shed located on St. John’s driveway. Donations are acceptable any time of the day or night. This mission has provided more than 30 million garments to people all over the world who are in need.
