Inaugural ‘Carrying the Torch: Girl Scout Convention on Women’s Rights’
This Friday and Saturday will be the first- ever collaboration between Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Women’s Rights National Historical Park and National Women’s Hall of Fame as they commemorate the 100th anniversary of the NYS women’s suffrage.
Participants will also celebrate how girls of today carry the torch of equal rights through civic engagement in ‘Carrying the Torch: Girl Scout Convention on Women’s Rights.’
The event is free and open to all Girl Scouts and the public. Pre-registration is required by visiting gsnypenn.org/torch.

8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Tours of Women’s Rights National Historical Park (136 Fall St.), Elizabeth Cady Stanton House (32 Washington St.), Wesleyan Chapel (126 Fall St.), 1844 Seneca Knitting Mill (1 Canal St.), National Women’s Hall of Fame (76 Fall St.), M’Clintock
House (14 East WilliamSt., Waterloo)
1-2 p.m. - Press conference at Wesleyan Chapel (126 Fall St.) celebrating inaugural convention with event organizers and Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, Chair of NYS Women’s Suffrage Commission, followed by interactive re-enactment of Declaration of Sentiments with actress portraying Elizabeth Cady Stanton
3-4:30 p.m. – “The Convention” Panel Discussion on the issues and civic engagement at Seneca Falls Community Center (35Water St.), girls and women leaders discuss how the past influences the present and future—moderated by Democrat & Chronicle Senior Engagement Editor Julie Philipp with GSNYPENN CEO Julie Dale, Women’s Rights National Historical Park Superintendent Noemi “Ami” Ghazala, Co-President of the National Women’sHall of Fame Betty Bayer, 2007 Women’s Hall of Fame Inductee Dr. Judith L.
