Stanley L. Whitmeyer, 65, of Canastota
CANASTOTA » Stan- ley L. Whitmeyer, 65, of 8764 Lewis Point Road, Canastota, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1952, in Canastota, a son of Harry Sr. and Mildred ( Youngs) Whitmeyer.
Stan has lived in the Canastota area all of his life, graduating from Canastota High School in 1970.
He worked as a machinist at Diemolding Corporation in Canastota, and had previously worked at Owl Wire Corporation in Canastota and Oneida Limited in Sherrill. Later, he did commercial painting in the area.
Stan was an all-around handyman, and enjoyed making mechanical repairs, singing and playing his guitar.
Surviving are: his girlfriend, Cathy Congdon; two sons and daughtersin-law, Paul and Tammi Whitmeyer, and Henry and Caitlin Whitmeyer, all of Canastota; his mother, Mildred “Millie” Whitmeyer of Citra, Fla.; five brothers, Duane Whitmeyer of Citra, Fla., Lester Whitmeyer of Ormond Beach, Fla., Gary Whitmeyer of Canastota, Thomas Whitmeyer of Citra, Fla., and Joseph Whitmeyer of Jersey City, N. J.; one sister, Julie Whitmeyer of Canastota; four grandsons, Jesse Whitmeyer, Harley Whitmeyer, Kelli Whitmeyer, and Garret Whitmeyer; two greatgranddaughters; as well as aunts, uncles, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Stan was predeceased by his father, Harry Whitmeyer Sr., and a brother, Harry Whitmeyer Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. Pastor Donna Chapman of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
