CANASTOTA » Virginia M. “Jeannie” Moss, 82, of 313 First St., Canastota, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1935, in Canastota, a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Virginia (Gabriella) Balducci.

Virginia spent her early years in Canastota, graduating from Canastota High School in 1954. She, also, graduated from the Crouse Irving School of Nursing, Syracuse, in 1956. Virginia later lived in Europe most of her life, returning to Canastota in 1997.

She worked as a registered nurse for many years, working in Syracuse, Boston, and New York City.

Virginia was a member of St. Agatha’s Church in Canastota.

She loved shopping, traveling, history, art, and animals, especially dogs.

Virginia married Jesse Moss, an attorney in New York City, on Oct. 18, 1974, in New York City. Jesse died on Jan. 2, 2000.

Surviving are a sister and brotherin-law, Celia and John Musacchio of Canastota; as well as several nieces, nephews , and cousins, including Donna and Chris Togias, John and Donna Musacchio, Virginia Togias, and Matthew Musacchio. Virginia was predecease­d by a brother, Ralph Balducci; and a sister, Anne Stay.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. The Rev. Anthony F. Tosti will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha’s Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, prior to the service, from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. In her memory, contributi­ons may bemade to Wanderers’ Rest Humane Associatio­n, Inc., P.O. Box 535, Canastota, N.Y. 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
