Rosary Crusade set for Oct. 14
ONEIDA » Several area organizations will be participating in conjunction with 20,000 groups nationally in an “America Needs Fatima” Rosary Crusade at Veterans Field at noon on Saturday, Oct. 14. Local participants include the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Daughters, the Oneida Senior Group, Holy Cross Academy and local Altar-Rosary groups. The Rosary Crusade will recognize the Centenary of the appearances of Mary at Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The purpose of the crusade is to pray for peace and the end of wars, and to make reparation for public sins.
Booth Brothers will perform Oct. 15
WHITESBORO » The Booth Brothers, recently named Favorite Southern Gospel Trio for the 10th consecutive year by The Singing News, will perform on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. at Crosspoint Church, 317 Oriskany Boulevard. The trio of Ronnie Booth, Michael Booth and Paul Lancaster is known for its harmony, humor and uplifting performances. They will be joined by Christian musician Sherry Anne. Guest speaker at Unitarian Church
UTICA » Najib Mangal will speak about Afghanistan on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 P.M. at the UnitarianUniversalist Church, 10 Higby Road. Mangal and his family are originally from Kabul, Afghanistan and now reside in Utica. His Afghanistan experience includes employment by OSHA of USA contractors for the Army Corps of Engineers in the fields of health and safety. In addition to managerial experience, Mangal speaks four languages. Refreshments are served, and questions are welcomed in this free, public discussion about prospects for Afghanistan. Harvest dinner served at Verona UMC
VERONA » Verona United Methodist Church, 5694 Main Street, will hold its annual Harvest Dinner on Oct. 14 from 4-6 p.m. The menu will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, Harvard beets, butternut squash, homemade applesauce, cranberry sauce, rolls, beverages and pie. The price is $9 for adults, $5 for children and free for ages 4 and younger. Proceeds go to mission work.
Jacobs Brothers perform Oct. 15
DURHAMVILLE » The Jacobs Brothers Gospel Group will present a free concert at Durhamville Baptist Church on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. The Jacobs Brothers, of Dillsburg, Pa., are dedicated to the ministry of spreading the Gospel through music. “Sermon on the Mount” staged at Holy Family Church
VERNON » Church of the Holy Family will host TV star Frank Runyeon in “Sermon on the Mount” on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 4352 Peterboro St. The one-man play is based on New Testament scripture. It will be followed by “Hollywood vs. Faith: The 3 Other Beatitudes,” in which Runyeon shares anecdotes from his years in Hollywood in a humorous look at the way the media portrays the world. A free will offering will be accepted. Runyeon has appeared on a number of television series including “As the World Turns,” “Santa Barbara,” and “General Hospital.” He is also an honors graduate of General Theological Seminary and Princeton University. Roast pork dinner served Oct. 14
CANASTOTA » The United Church of Canastota, 144 Center St., will host its annual harvest dinner on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 4-6:30 p.m. The menu will include roast pork, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, green beans, cabbage salad, homemade applesauce, roll, assorted desserts and beverage. Take outs will be available. Tickets are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors 60 and older, $8 for children 6-12 and free for ages 5 and younger. Ten percent of proceeds will benefit the church’s missions including Fishes and Loaves, Heifer International, UMCOR and the Nicaragua Medical Mission. The church is handicapped accessible.

Verona CROPWalk is Oct. 21
VERONA » The Verona CROP Walk will take place Saturday, Oct. 21 with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the Verona Presbyterian Church, corner of Rock Road and East Main Street. Various routes are offered, ranging from one half mile to two miles with rest stops along the way if needed.
