Ball will be amazing sheriff
I wholeheartedly agree with Undersheriff John Ball’s campaign slogan of “Keep What’s Working.” Not only is Undersheriff Ball working as Acting Sheriff, he is working admirably, as always. In my professional position, I have worked with Undersheriff John Ball on a number of projects and programs over the past seven years including the local and statewide campaign “Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws”; expanding access to safe pill collection through the placement of kiosks around the county; STOP-DWI prevention, education and intervention; and consultation on employee safety issues. For five years, Undersheriff Ball served on the Board of Directors of BRiDGES. In addition to his role with governance, he served on the committee to review policies and procedures related to personnel issues. Undersheriff Ball was accessible, thoughtful, and he always brought a wealth of experience in administration and best practices to each question and meeting
Undersheriff John Ball is an asset to the residents of Madison County because of his passion for public safety, his leadership, and his years of experience. Our county deserves to keep what’s working when it is working so well.
I enthusiastically endorse Undersheriff John Ball for Sheriff.
Schiebel deserves reelection
I am writing to support Keith Schiebel’s re-election as Oneida County Legislator from District 1. In my 10 years as Trustee and the last five as Village of Vernon’s Mayor I have never worked with a County Legislator as good as Keith. Part of Mr. Schiebel’s job is to work with vil- lage officials as the county representative. While other legislators have done an admirable job, Mr. Schiebel has done an outstanding job by routinely attending our village meetings and keeping us informed. Keith is easy to get a hold of and always gets back to you if you miss him.
This past summer, the county conducted a series of shared services meetings. Due to scheduling conflicts, none of our board members could attend. Mr. Schiebel represented our village interests at these meetings, then informed our board of the proceedings. When asked to approve the county’s plan, I felt well-informed and could easily approve the plan as written due in part to the explanations provided to our board by Mr. Schiebel.
Last year, the county also proposed cuts to funding given to towns and villages. Again, Mr. Schiebel attended the meetings of village mayors and advocated for our local governments. As a result of his leadership, no reductions were made.
Oneida County has.always told us they were not in the water business so they could not help us with funding or grants. In the past few years the Village and Town of Vernon have been trying to get water service to outside districts. Keith has made himself available for these meetings and has gone to Senator Griffo’s office and Assemblyman Magee’s office to help try secure funding even though the “county isn’t in the water business.” He was there looking after his constituents.
Keith also spearheaded quarterly meetings amongst local leaders from Towns of Vernon and Verona, City of Sherrill, Villages of Oneida Castle and Vernon for dialog on any concerns that each of us has and what can the municipalities do to help each other. The communication he started is just awesome!
On Nov. 7, I urge all residents in District 1 to join me in supporting Mr. Schiebel as our County Legislator representative and vote for him on Election Day.
