SHERRILL >> Dolores “Dee” Everhart, age 89, a resident of the Oneida Extended Care Facility for the past 14 months, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017. Dee was born on Aug. 6, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Mildred (Hilts) Sterritt. Her family later moved to Manlius, N.Y. She was a graduate of Manlius High School and received her master’s degree in physical education from Brockport State College. On June 21, 1951, Dee was married to the love of her life, Donald “Cork” Everhart, at the Manlius Baptist Church, and shared this loving union for nearly 66 years. Dee taught physical education in the V.V.S. Central School System and later taught the BOCES Adult Education Program in Oneida. She was a member of the Christ Church United Methodist in Sherrill for over 50 years. She spent many hours and took pride in assisting with the annual Christmas Fantasy Fair antique booth, as well as many other church activities. She was involved in several civic organizati­ons, including Girl Scouts, Sherrill Garden Club, and the Oneida Community Golf Club Youth Program. Dee was active all her life and loved working with young people. She enjoyed gardening, skiing, tennis, and shared her passion for golfing and winters in Florida with her husband and many friends. She was a member of the Oneida Community Golf Course with her husband for over 60 years. Dee is survived by her two daughters and sonsin-law, Linda and Andrew Lehmann of Limerick, Maine, and Susan and Donald Wimmer of Canastota; her two granddaugh­ters, Erin Lehmann of Rhode Island, and Alexandra (Michael) Mobley of North Carolina; her five great-grandchild­ren, Emma Wilkins, Hadley Wilkins, Hayden Mobley, Samantha Mobley, and Sophia Mobley; her one brother, William Sterritt; and her many nieces and nephews. Dee was predecease­d by her loving husband, Donald “Cork” Everhart; her daughter, Karen Everhart; her brother, Arthur Sterritt; her sister, Beverly Sterritt Curr; her brother, Gerald Sterritt; and her mother and father, Mildred and William Sterritt. The family would like to thank the staff at the Oneida Extended Care Facility for their compassion and excellent care Dee received during her time there. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, from 10-11 a.m. at Christ Church United Methodist, 417 Park St., Sherrill, N.Y. Dee’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m. immediatel­y following calling hours at the church with the Rev. Robert Kolvik-Campbell officiatin­g. Following her service, friends and family are welcome to attend a luncheon to celebrate Dee’s life in Conde Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Christ Church United Methodist of Sherrill or the Oneida Extended Care Facility, 323 Genesee St., Oneida, N.Y. 13421. Graveside burial will be at 2 p.m. (weather permitting) in West Verona Cemetery, Verona, N.Y. Arrangemen­ts are with the Malecki Funeral Home, Sherrill, N.Y.
