Concerts on the Green kicks off today

HAMILTON, N.Y. » Thursday Concerts on the Green will kick off July 12 on Hamilton’s Village Green in the center of downtown Hamilton.

American blues roots band Chris Merkley’s Rocky Bottom Trio will open the season. The evening will also honor local first responders.

On July 19, The Old Main will perform as part of Comic-Con Night. Costumes are encouraged.

On July 26, world-class finger-style guitarist Loren Barrigar will perform as part of an evening dedicated to community educators.

On Aug. 2, blues group The Nate Gross Band will perform as part of Racing Night with five-track champion Matt Janczuk. The parttime racer and Hamilton Police Department sergeant will be onhand to talk with guests about his racing passion.

On Aug. 9, indie-folk trio Sanguine Penguin will perform during an evening dedicated to health care profession­als.

On Aug. 16, Hamilton’s own JJ Murphy will perform as part of an evening dedicated to veterans and service members. Murphy is now based in Nashville, Tenn., and has been touring the country, but finds time to come back home.

Music on the Green dates back to 1902 and is one of the Village’s most popular summer activities. This year’s festivitie­s will begin on July 12th, the week after Symphor!a’s annual performanc­e July 5th on the Green. The Village is excited to expand the traditiona­l concert series by incorporat­ing family-friendly events and encouragin­g folks to come at 5:30 to dine on the Green.
