Watercolor exhibit showcases local talent
The Kirkland Art Center will present its fourth year of Just Add Water in collaboration with Golden Artist Colors of New Berlin, N.Y.
The exhibition features more than 100 works by 55 artists from all corners of the Mohawk Valley, Syracuse, the North Country, and more. Each artist received a donated Golden Artist Colors QoR watercolor palette and a four inch square of watercolor paper. The rest was up to their own creativity.
An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, July 13, from 7-9 p.m., with a special preview party from 6-7 p.m. for participating artists and those interested in getting first view of the art. The pre-party costs $10 for non-participating artists. Each piece will be for sale for $20 and supports the KAC’s mission of educating children and adults to advocate for artists and the arts, and to engage the community in a range of cultural experiences and opportunities.
Sarah Burns, a Clinton native who works at Golden Artist Colors, will be this year’s Just AddWa- ter judge. Her task was to pick three winners including Best of Show and two Honorable Mentions. This year, the KAC is welcoming another crop of talented artists ages teen to 98, with first time artists and seasoned professionals. Awards will be presented at the Opening Reception.
