Veteran of the Year returns
WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. » The Veteran of the Year Award is coming back thanks to the Madison County War Veterans Memorial Committee.
WAVE M Committee members have been working to bring back the awards program since early March of this year. The former Moose Club would originally put out a call for all Madison County veterans who could be considered Veteran of the Year, but the program was discontinued in the early 2000s.
One of its last winners, Benson Barrett, is the chairman of the Veteran of the Year committee.
The Veteran of the Year Award dinner will take place at Theodore’s Restaurant in Canastota on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 each for the buffet and will feature a number of dishes including
roast beef, turkey, mashed potatoes, baked ziti, salad and more.

ickets are on sale now and can be purchased from any local Madison County VFW or American Legion.
