There’s a lot that goes in to choos­ing the right time to go out deer hunt­ing.

Are you one of the peo­ple who owns sev­eral hun­dred acres, has ev­ery type of food plot known to mankind, and so many tree stands that you could string a zip line con­nect­ing them, and only hunt when con­di­tions are per­fect? Prob­a­bly not. If you are, you don’t need to bother read­ing this col­umn. Maybe you are one of the peo­ple who reg­u­larly checks the phases of the moon be­fore hunt­ing. Are you a hunter who goes or stays home de­pend­ing on the weather and what the “ex­perts” say about it? Do you be­lieve firmly that you need cold weather to in­flu­ence the rut or get deer mov­ing?
