4-Hers hon­ored for achieve­ments

4-H mem­bers, lead­ers and vol­un­teers were rec­og­nized at the an­nual 4-H Achieve­ment Night on Nov. 14at Cor­nell Co­op­er­a­tive Ex­ten­sion Oneida County.

ORISKANY, N.Y. >> 4-H mem­bers, lead­ers and vol­un­teers were rec­og­nized for their ac­com­plish­ments and ser­vice at the an­nual 4-H Achieve­ment Night on Nov. 14 at Cor­nell Co­op­er­a­tive Ex­ten­sion Oneida County.

In at­ten­dance to re­ceive awards were:

Clover­budMem­bers (ages 5-8) were pre­sented with The Thumbs Up Award in recog­ni­tion of their par­tic­i­pa­tion at the Boonville Fair.

Martin Luther, Me­lanie Beers, Blaise Larry, Reese Finn, An­drew Kil­gore, Caleb Beers, Tommy vanLieshout, Bobby vanLieshout, Eden Cza­jka, Dixie Wil­son, and Alexan­der Slone.

Earn­ing spe­cial recog­ni­tion for ex­em­plary per­for­mance at the New York State Fair were:

Robin Litts earned spe­cial recog­ni­tion for an ex­em­plary per­for­mance at the NewYork State Fair for her Pur­ple Rosette pre­sen­ta­tion on hip­pol­ogy.

Project cer­tifi­cates were awarded to those youths who have com­pleted a min­i­mum of six hours in a project area.

Ja­cob Buck- Horse Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Aaron- Finn Dairy Trace- Finn Dairy Youths who sub­mit­ted an essay on what they have learned and ac­com­plished over the past year were el­i­gi­ble for a Per­sonal Growth Cer­tifi­cate — Lanelle Vile and Selby Young.

Project medals were given to those youths who have not only done out­stand­ing work in the spe­cific project area but have gone the ex­tra step to share that project with oth­ers by do­ing a Cre­ative Com­mu­ni­ca­tion and a face to face in­ter­view with vol­un­teers. The Out­stand­ing Cre­ative Sci­ence Award was pre­sented to Robin Litts. In ad­di­tion to win­ning a Po­laroid Cam­era do­nated by Joanne Fab­rics, she will rep­re­sent Oneida County 4-H at the State Teen Ac­tion Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Re­treat (STARR), a three-day, fun­filled event, held at the NY State Fair­grounds. While there, 4-H teens par­tic­i­pate in a va­ri­ety of work­shops and ac­tiv­i­ties meant to chal­lenge, ex­cite and fur­ther de­velop life skills.

4-H Mem­ber Lanelle Vile nom­i­nated and pre­sented Dr. Brenda Brock­way, DVM, with the My Fa­vorite Leader Award.

Lisa Far­ney, 4-H Youth De­vel­op­ment Ed­u­ca­tor, pre­sented Lanelle Vile­with The 4-H Help­ing Hand Award. The be­hind the scenes work Lanelle pro­vided made 4-H events such as the Tack Sale, Boonville and State Fairs run smoothly.

In 2018 4-H gave back more than 1680 hours to the Com­mu­nity. In to­tal, 125 youths par­tic­i­pated in vol­un­teer op­por­tu­ni­ties. In at­ten­dance to re­ceive in­di­vid­ual and club awards and Stewart’s Ice CreamCer­tifi­cates were:
