CANAS­TOTA Mary T. Fusillo, of 7077 Forbes Road, Canas­tota, passed away on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 2, 2018, fol­low­ing a brief ill­ness in the com­fort of her home sur­rounded by her fam­ily. She was born on Fe­bru­ary 3, 1930, in Canas­tota, the daugh­ter of the late Sam and Angela (Leonardi) Torn­abene. Mary has lived in the Canas­tota all of her life, grad­u­at­ing from Canas­tota High School in 1947. She later grad­u­ated from Al­fred State Col­lege, and Up­state Med­i­cal Univer­sity of Health Pro­fes­sions in Syra­cuse. She worked for many years as Chief Med­i­cal Tech­nol­o­gist and Cy­totech­nol­o­gist at Oneida City Hos­pi­tal and MDS Lab­o­ra­to­ries. On Novem­ber 3, 1951, Mary and her hus­band, Vito A. Fusillo, were united in mar­riage and shared the lov­ing vow for 49 years to­gether un­til Vito’s pass­ing on April 8, 2001. A woman of faith, Mary was a parish­ioner at St. Agatha’s Church in Canas­tota. She was a mem­ber of the Red Hat So­ci­ety, Ca­sol­wood Golf Course, and for­merly of the Canas­tota Lionettes. She en­joyed Thurs­day af­ter­noon Bridge with friends at the Canas­tota Li­brary. She is sur­vived by her son and daugh­ter-in-law, Dou­glas and Teri Fusillo of Canas­tota; her daugh­ter, Bar­bara Fusillo of Canas­tota; two grand­chil­dren, Ni­cholas Fusillo and Cara Fusillo of Syra­cuse; her two sis­ters and a brother-in-law, Rosina Patane of Canas­tota, and Josephine and Vin­cent DiGas­pari of Rochester; two sis­ters-in-law, Rose and Sam Spuches of Liver­pool, and Lois Fusillo of Canas­tota; three step-grand­chil­dren, John and Mary Phraner, Chris­tine and Bill Palmer, and Caitlin and Brian Ras­celles; five step-great grand­chil­dren; as well as many nieces, neph­ews, cousins, and friends. Mary was pre­de­ceased by a brother, James Torn­abene; and two sis­ters, Freida Mal­fi­tano, and Nina LeBlanc. Fu­neral ser­vices will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 7, 2018, at St. Agatha’s Church, 329 N. Peter­boro Street, Canas­tota, where a fu­neral mass will be held. The Rev. Stephen P. Wirkes will of­fi­ci­ate. In­ter­ment will be in St. Agatha’s Ceme­tery, Canas­tota. Calling hours will be held on Thurs­day from 3 to 7 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Fu­neral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canas­tota.
