SHERRILL BAKER REPRESENTS CNY
Andrea Maranville competes on national television
Sherrill resident and Rome native Andrea Maranville will represent Central New York on the national stage as she competes on the Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition.
The six-episode show premieres Thursday, Dec. 6, on ABC from 9-11 p.m., but Maranville traveled to London, England over the summer to record the program.
“It was an unbelievably surreal and overwhelmingly exciting experience,” said Maranville.
The amateur baker began her baking journey about 10 years ago, and over the years “it just sort of evolved into a passion for baking,” Maranville said. “It’s something I love to do. People love to eat what I make and it makes me really happy to share my love of food with people.”
This is the second time she’s applied for the show, she said, and she made it into the Top 10 contestants. They filmed in London during August with judges Paul Hollywood and Sherry Yard. Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton will host the show.
“To have them judge my food was mind boggling,” said the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School graduate. “It was just amazing. I made great friends with the contestants. It was just an unbelievable experience. It’s something I’ll
never forget.”
Maranville was born in Rome and graduated from VVS. Her family moved away from the area for about 13 years, but her husband recently accepted a job at Madison-Oneida BOCES, so they moved back to the area around 4 years ago.
“I consider this home,” Maranville said. “To represent the smallest city in New York and this area makes me very proud.”
