The Oneida Public Library welcomes eligible adults to apply for seats on the OPL’s board of trustees.

ONEIDA, N.Y. >> The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees invites adult residents of the OPL Special Legislatur­e Library District who are interested in running as candidates for the board seat opening up this July 1 to pick up voter petition forms this month at the library, 220 Broad St., Oneida.

To get on the ballot for the trustee election, which will be held Tuesday, March 5, each candidate must collect a minimum of 25 signatures of registered voters who reside in the OPL Special Library District. The Special District is coextensiv­e with the Oneida City School District. It includes Durhamvill­e, Oneida City, Oneida Castle, Wampsville and portions of Sylvan Beach and the towns of Lenox, Lincoln, Vernon, Verona and Vienna. Completed and notarized petitions must be returned to the library by 5:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1.

A duly elected member of the OPL Board of Trustees serves a five-year term without reimbursem­ent. The winner of the March 5 election will serve on the board from July 1, 2019 until June 30, 2024, in line with the library’s fiscal year, which runs from July 1 to June 30.

The OPL board currently consists of G. Richard Kinsella, Jr. ( president), Lillian White (vice-president), Bradford Adams (treasurer), Patricia Albaugh (secretary), Heather de la Riva, Gary N. Taylor and Katherine Wojciechow­ski.

Also available at the library desk are absentee ballot applicatio­ns for registered voters residing in the Library District who are physically disabled or expect to be absent from the district the day of the library vote. The same applicatio­ns can be downloaded and printed out from the OPL web site (www. midyorklib.org/oneida). Filledout applicatio­ns need to be returned to the library by mail or in person, and the actual absentee ballots will be mailed after Feb. 12.
