Clinton — The Clinton Historical Society will present the PBS film on the life of artist William C. Palmer, produced by award-winning documentary filmmakerDavid Sutherland, on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. Palmer, a long time Clinton resident, was founder of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute School of Art and the first member of the Hamilton College studio art faculty. During the Depression, he painted murals in public buildings for the WPA. Examples of Palmer’s work can still be seen today in several U.S. post offices. His paintings are in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the White House, the National Gallery in Washington and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
