Former House Speaker Paul Ryan’s general counsel, Mark Epley, a graduate of Oneida High School, has been named executive vice president and general counsel of Managed Funds Association.

Epley, who moved to the Oneida area in second grade and graduated from OHS in 1986, is the son of Ron and Judy McKinney. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Gordon College and a Juris Doctorate from the William and Mary School of Law. He has been admitted to the bar of both Washington, D.C., and Vir- ginia.

During his time in the nation’s capital, Epley served as general counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee and the Subcommittee on Oversight.

As vice president and general counsel of MFA, Epley will oversee all legal aspects of the association, including regulatory and legal matters related to policy, according to a statement by MFA.

“Mark has earned a distinguished reputation as a skilled lawyer and advisor with a deep understanding of Washington and matters important to our members,” said Richard H. Baker, MFA President and CEO. “His expertise will help advance our efforts to keep in place policies that work well, fine tune those that do not, and ensure new initiatives recognize the unique nature of investment firms. We are thrilled that Mark will join our remarkable team, including the talented lawyers in our Legal Department, who work tirelessly for our members and the investors they serve.”

Epley begins his tenure with MFA Feb. 19.
