Family fishing fun at Rogers Center
The sixth annual Family Fishing Day for novice and seasoned anglers kicks off June 15.
On Saturday, June 15, Rogers Center is hosting the sixth annual Family Fishing Day. Join novice and seasoned anglers for a few rounds of catch and release from9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This day is ideal for beginners eager to learn more about the sport, and for experts to mentor future fishing enthusiasts. Bait will be provided, and fishing poles are available first-come, first-served. Visitors are welcome to bring their own lucky pole as well.
Rogers Center ponds in Sherburne are generally not open to the public for fishing. However, during Family Fishing Day, all
visitors are encouraged to try this popular outdoor pastime, without holding an otherwise mandatory New York state fishing license.
“Family Fishing Day is a great way for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors together,” said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive director. “We are especially happy when we are allowed the opportunity to invite families to try fishing in the waters of Rogers Center.”
This is one of the many events and programs happening this season at Rogers Center. For more information, visit friendsofrogers.org or call Rogers Center at 607- 674- 4733.
Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
