State Fair bus trip

Clinton — A one day bus trip to the New York State Fair will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, departing from Herkimer and Clinton. On this day, seniors 60 years and over are admitted free, and Herman’sHermits starring Peter Noone will play at Chevy Court. The cost is $35 a person. Summer space camp

Oneida— On Tuesdays in August from noon to 2 p.m. (Aug. 6-27), Oneida Public Library’s Megan Gillander will conduct the Summer Reading Program’s Space Camp in which children ages 5-13 years old will be involved in books, crafts, puzzles and team projects that reflect a “universe of stories.” Parents need to sign-up their children for Space Camp at the OPL Circulatio­n Desk.

Art workshop

Canastota— Oneida Public Library has engaged artist and teacher Carol Cotten to hold a free art workshop in pencil and watercolor­s called The Nature Journal out of doors at the Great Swamp Conservanc­y in Canastota in four weekly sessions on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Aug. 7-28. In case of rain, the class will meet indoors at the Conservanc­y’s Center. Interested adults must register at the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., for the class. Registered students will receive directions and a list of recommende­d art supplies and accessorie­s for outdoor painting.

Living well with diabetes

Oneida — A free workshop series to help those living with diabetes will be offered at Oneida Healthcare fromSept. 3 to Oct 15, meeting once a week on Tuesdays. Attendees will learn tips and techniques to better self-manager their diabetes and take charge of their health. Rummage and bake sale

Oneida — New Hope Christian, 1904 W. Road, Oneida, will hold a rummage and bake sale on Friday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and a bag sale on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Clean and usable contributi­ons and donations are appreciate­d and will be accepted at the church from Aug. 25 through Sept. 5.

Lakeside Farmers Market

Heritage hops

Oneida — Potted hop plants are once again available to benefit the Madison County Historical Society in Oneida for a $5 donation. More than 200 hop plants are ready for purchase now. Plants will also be available at the Hop Shop on Saturday, Sept. 14 during the annual Madison County Hop Fest. Varieties available include Cascade and “Hedgerow Hops” from the wild stock of the old hop yards near Bouckville, where commercial hop growing was introduced to New York state in 1808. Gorman Foundation insurance enrollment

Oneida — Tuesdays through Fridays at the Mary Rose Clinic in the Gorman Foundation Community Center, there will be an insurance enroller available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. OnWednesda­y, the enroller is on site from 4-7 p.m. during clinic hours.

PAC 99 livestream­ing

Oneida — Public Access Channel 99, on the Oneida area Spectrum cable service, has begun live streaming selected video on the PAC 99 Facebook page. Videos are streamed live and also archived for later viewing. PAC 99 continues to broadcast content on Spectrum cable channel 99 in addition to the Facebook live streaming. The weekly PAC 99 schedule is posted on the PAC 99 Facebook page. The PAC 99 website, www.pac99.org has been taken out of service and has been replaced by the PAC 99 Facebook page.

Farmers market coupons

Canastota — The U. S. Department of Agricultur­e and Markets has issued coupons redeemable at local farmers markets. To be eligible you must be age 60 or over and affirm you are low income based on one or more of the following criteria: eligible for or currently receiving SSI, Public Assistance, Section 8 HUD Subsidy. Coupons are worth $20. One booklet per eligible adult, one time per year. The coupons are free and can be used to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at any participat­ing farmers market. They cannot be used in regular grocery stores. Farmers market coupons can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at Madison County Office for the Aging, 138 Dominic Bruno Blvd., Canastota. Lakeside Farmers Market

Bridgeport — The Lakeside Farmers Market, a collaborat­ion of Bridgeport United Methodist Church and the community, is every Thursday from3-7 p.m., rain or shine. Fresh produce, honey, eggs, and more is available, as well as baked goods or a cooked chicken for supper. The market is located at 377 Route 31 in Bridgeport.
