Mustangs to play in ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl
The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference ( ECAC) announced its selections Monday afternoon to its four Bowl Championship games , selecting SUNY Morrisville as the host of the 2019 Clayton Chapman Bowl Championship on Saturday.
The Mustangs will kick- off at noon against the Westminster College Titans on Drake Field in Morrisville.
Morrisville, who wrapped up the regular season with a thrilling defeat of No. 22 Brockport this past Saturday, enter the contest with a 6-4 overall record, riding a fourgame win streak, finishing third overall in the Empire 8 Conference.
Westminster finished the regular season 7- 3 overall, collecting a 6-3 Presidents’ Athletic Conference record.
“I am so excited for our players, especially our seniors, that we get the opportunity to play one more game together,” said head coach Curt Fitzpatrick. “Our team fought so hard all year and improved as the season went along. We finished strong and I’m glad that showed to the ECAC selection committee.”
“These bowl game opportunities are invaluable to the growth and development of our program. We have a very bright future ahead.”
This is the second straight season the Mustangs have earned a bowl bid, and third overall under direction of Fitzpatrick. Morrisville claimed the 2014 North Central Football Bowl title, and fell one possession short against Grove City College in last year’s James Lynah Bowl held at Grove City.
