Professor celebrates 10th anniversary of comic
CAZENOVIA, N.Y. >> A college professor from Cazenovia College is being recognized for drawing Digby’s Hardware cartoon for The Hardware Connection.
Cazenovia College Associate Professor of Visual Communications Scott Jensen has been drawing the comic strip since the first issue came out in November 2009, according to a news release. Now celebrating its 10 year anniversary, the all-digital magazine showcases Jensen’s work in the November issue and describes the process of how the cartoon becomes a digital strip.
Jensen noted that he has been cartooning for more than 40 years, getting his start drawing editorial cartoons for the local newspaper at age 14. He said he once drew a weekly comic strip for Grit newspaper called “Barner’s Hollow.”
For 33 years, Jensen said he has also drawn a line of humorous greeting cards for Oatmeal Studios that are sold both nationally and internationally.
Work from Jensen’s Digby Hardware strip and his Oatmeal Studios greeting card line were on display earlier this year at a gallery exhibition in Spain at Le Centre d’Art La Rectoria in Saint Pere De Vilamajor Barcelona.
