Donald S. Mower,93. Born February 10th 1928, In the front porch of the farm house in Saugerties NY. He was the son of Fred and Bernice Mower. Don worked on the family farm and attended a one room school house, until the eighth grade, then attended high school in Saugerties, NY before entering the US Navy Merchant Marine. After his tour of duty during the end of WWII, he came back to nish his high school education. He then started his own trucking business working on the NY thruway project, until working for West Constructi­on in Woodstock NY, it was at that time he met his love of 70 years of marriage to Dorothy Mahoney at a Woodstock diner.

In 1961, the couple moved to Vernon NY where Don worked for CE Milk Haulers. In 1965, Don purchased Vernon Milling from Janowski Bros. After closing Vernon Milling in 1975, Don went to work for Vigortone Ag Products, until starting his own ag company Penny Nutrition in 1983 until his retirement in 1996.

Don loved to ride his motorcycle and go to camp in Port Leyden. Don and Dorothy loved to travel to Florida every winter where they stayed in Englewood. In 2018, Don moved into Wiley Hall of Masonic Home where he enjoyed many activities. Together they have ve children, Marcia Cowan of Oneida, Kerrie Butler of Oneida, Kate Reese and her husband Mike of Little Falls, Amy Casale and her husband Tony of Lake Lure, North Carolina, Andy Mower and his wife Joan of Holland Patient. Don and Dot’s family were blessed with 10 grandchild­ren and 18 great grandchild­ren.

A private ceremony will be held for the immediate family at Malecki Funeral Home on Friday, April 2. In lieu of owers, donations can be made out to Future Farmers of America (VVS FFA) Attention Mr. Ferreira, VVS Agricultur­e Teacher at 5275 State Route 31 Verona, NY 13478, in Donald’s memory.
