ELTON L PALMER

Elton L Palmer, 84 of Lebanon Rd., Earlville, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 4, 2021 as St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica. He was born April 6, 1936 in Earlville, a son of Pearl H. and Mary Emma (Harrington) Palmer and received his education in Lebanon and Earlville schools. In his youth, he worked on friends and family farms. He worked for 20 years as a Master Die grinder at Gray Syracuse then pursued several occupations over the years including factory work, wood cutting, and small engine repair for his nephew “Doc” Palmer at Doc’s Repair shop in Hamilton until retiring.

Elton loved to keep busy, enjoying vegetable gardening, working on tractors and small engines. He was a “people person” who truly enjoyed the times spent with friends and family. He was a member of the Mohawk Valley Tractor Pulling Club and the Catskill Garden Tractor Pulling Club. Surviving are the mother of his 5 children Barbara Straight; Daughters, Melanie (Charlie) Palmer Seifert of Sherburne, Paula (Donald) Palmer-briggs of Earlville; Candi Palmer of Norwich, Sons Scott (April) Palmer of Brookeld; Howard (Kelly) Palmer of Norwich. Grandchildren: Alen Palmer, Adam Palmer, Brittany (Callahan) Thompson, Taylor Palmer, Charles (Kimberly) Palmer, Steven Palmer, Andrew Palmer, Sean Brower, Brent Brower; and 5 great grandchildren. His brothers, Edward (Gail) Palmer of Eaton; Sheldon (Sheila) Palmer of Earlville; Earl Palmer of Earlville; Ronald (Ellen) Palmer of Norwich; sister, Leisa (Ray) Perry of Hamilton.

He was predeceased by his brothers: Wayne Palmer, Bernard Palmer, Sr. and John “Jack” Palmer; three sisters, Joan Sutherland, Erma Palmer and Sheila Predmore; and grandson Kevin Palmer. Memorial services will be held at 5pm on Friday, April 16, at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY

Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-5 prior to the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family.
