ONEIDA-PAULA C. Stratton passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Paula was born the fourth child to Bruce Earl Cook & Rosemary Sugar Cook in Oneida, N.Y. on April 12, 1956. Paula loved to tell everyone she was the baby of the family. She attended Oneida City Schools and Oneida Madison BOCES, graduating in 1975. Paula was employed by Oneida City Hospital for 20 years and then employed by Rome Memorial Hospital for 16 years until 2020. Paula was a member of the Canastota American Legion Auxiliary Unit 140 since 1998.

Paula married George Stratton Jr. in 1996 in Vernon, N.Y. Surviving besides her husband are her three loving children, two daughters and sons-inlaw, Kristie & Scott Weese of Medina, N.Y. and Karrie King & Steve Collins of Oneida, N.Y. One son and daughter-in-law, Darryl and Augusta Lerch of Bealeton, Virginia. Her four grandchild­ren, Savannah, Lennox and Cooper Lerch all of Virginia, and Cora Collins of Oneida, all of whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorraine Cook and Mel Phillips and Rosemarie & Jerry Smith all of Oneida. Several aunts, uncles, cousinx, nieces and nephews. Paula was predecease­d by her mother, Rosemary in 2000, her brother, Bruce E. Cook Jr. in 2005, and her father, Bruce E. Cook, Sr. in 2011. Paula especially loved spending time with her family, taking trips to Virginia, Medina and the Wine Country. She also had the pleasure of babysittin­g Cora when needed. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, loved Country music and enjoyed working in her yard. Paula was a communican­t of St. Helena’s Church of Sherrill.

Services for Paula will be conducted on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 11 AM, at the Coolican-mcsweeney & Paul Funeral Home, 322 Washington Avenue in Oneida. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. At 1:00 PM, Paula’s family will hold a celebratio­n of Paula’s Life, at POP a Top, 105 West Elm Street in Oneida, all are invited to attend.
