Fairgoers participate in ‘Milk Moves Me’ booth at state fair
SYRACUSE, N.Y. >> At the New York State Fair this year, people are promoting milk through pictures.
Hundreds of fairgoers have created GIFS of themselves sparring with U.S. Olympic bronze medalist in karate — Ariel Torres. The animated moving images are posted all over social media with the hashtag #Milkmovesme to promote milk’s role in fueling athletic performance.
Syracuse.com also recently named the attraction one of the top 15 spots to snap a selfie at the fair.
The new exhibit in the Dairy Products Building comes from the American Dairy Association North East and highlights the national “You’re Gonna Need Milk for That” campaign. Torres, a member of the campaign’s “Team Milk” says milk has played a big part in his journey, fueling him during competitions, and providing nutrition to support his training.
“Team Milk” athletes — Maurio Mccoy (skateboarding), Cat Osterman (softball), Hannah Roberts (BMX freestyle), and Torres (karate) are featured on a large backdrop at the booth. Lights, umbrellas, cameras, and computer monitors put fairgoers in the spotlight as they strike three poses to complete their animated photos which are then emailed. Anyone who participates is eligible for daily prizes including t-shirts, hats, and athletic bags. Those who post their image to social media with the hashtag #Milkmovesme are entered to win grand prizes including a mini-refrigerator, gaming headphones, a gaming chair, and gift cards.
There’s still time to create your own GIF and enter to win prizes. The exhibit is open every day during the Fair and is located in the Dairy Products Building adjacent to the Chevy Court entrance.
