ONEIDA- Amy (Takeko) Cossette, 90, of Hunt Valley Road, passed away on September 1, 2021, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. Born in Katsuki, Fukuoka Ken, Japan on January 15, 1931, she was the daughter of Kasuichi and Yukino Simizu Nagao. Amy arrived in the United States in 1954 after her marriage to Edward Cossette in the Church of Our Family in Kurosaki, Japan on November 8, 1954. They lived in Rome for a brief time before they settled in Verona where they resided for fifty-five years, finally relocating to their current home in Oneida.

She received her education in Japan and assisted her husband with his consulting business from 1985-1995.

Amy was a housewife who enjoyed every “wonderful” minute with her family and considered them to be the most important part of her life. She was known for her warm, beautiful smile and kind, giving heart. The special people in her life, or even acquaintan­ces that showed her kindness, were often gifted one of her favorite Japanese dolls or fans. Amy was a gracious host and was happiest when she was taking care of those she loved. Her faith was equally important to her, and she was a communican­t of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church for sixty years.

Surviving besides her husband of sixty-seven years, Edward, are: one daughter, Kathleen (Keith) Hudson of Oneida; two sons, John (Natividad) Cossette of Verona and Andrew (Kelley) Cossette of Sherrill; eight grandchild­ren and their spouses, Athena Cossette, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Cossette, Jennifer Smith, Kimberly (Aaron) Bruni, Joseph (Katlyn) Hudson, Alisia (David) Uryniak, Nicholas (Chenin) Hudson and Timothy Hudson; thirteen great-grandchild­ren; one sister, Yachiyo Nagao of Kyoto, Japan. Two sister in laws and several nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held 10AM, Tuesday, September 7, 2021, from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Main Street, Verona where the funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Edmund Castronovo, pastor. Interment will be made in Verona Cemetery. Friends may call at the Campbell-dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida on Monday, September 6, 2021, from 4-7PM.
