FUNDING FOR 2022
For 2022, Congress approved a bill that provides funding of $52.81 billion, an increase of $934 million above 2021 (4.4% increase). In total, the bill provides total funding of $76.15 billion, including $18.8 billion for major disaster response and recovery and $4.57 billion that is offset by fee collections.

The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for safeguarding the American people. The 2022 discretionary request invests in improvements in border security through the use of advanced technology; promotes a humane and efficient immigration system; provides enhanced civil rights protection; supports federal, state, local, nonprofit and private entities’ efforts to detect, deter and recover from malicious cyber attacks; addresses the root causes of domestic terrorism; combats climate change; and fosters research and development.
