Stockbridg­e takes down Madison in rivalry game; more local scores

The fall sports season is now in full swing, with many of these squads looking to keep up their momentum heading into postseason play or look to flip on what can be called a rough start. Here are some local high school sports results.

September 20 Boys Soccer Madison/brookfield 1, Stockbridg­e Valley 2

The classic rivalry of Madison and Stockbridg­e continued to live up to expectatio­ns on Monday night as Stockbridg­e was able to edge out a 2-1 win at home. Tyler Fisher put in a goal each half or the Cougars on the way to the win.

VVS 0, Chittenang­o 6

The Bears were sharing the spotlight when they took down

the VVS Red Devils. Six players made it into the goal column, and the Bears improved to 5-1-1.

Girls Soccer Remsen 4, Hamilton 4

The Rams and Emerald Knights competed in an intense battle that ended in a stalemate. Emily Neuenschwa­nder had an impressive 20 saves for Hamilton in the tie.

Stockbridg­e 7, Madison 1

The lady Cougars improve to 4-1 on the season with a decisive win over Madison.

Canastota 8, Sherburne-earlville 0

The Raiders are back with an even record with a massive win over Sherburne-earlville.

The Blue and Orange fall to 2-6 on the year, with a loss to CVA. Efe Demir scored 2 for Oneida in the loss.

Canastota 1, Sherburne-earlville 1

Despite the 9 saves from Conner Russell and Landon Hughes’s goal, the Raiders could not break

the tie against S her burne earl ville. Asa result, the Raiders now sit with a 3-3-1 record.

Cooperstow­n 4, Hamilton 1

Even though John Hughes secured 10 saves for the Emerald Knights, the offense could only muster up one goal, and Hamilton walks away with a loss. As a result, they have fallen to 3-3-1.

Cazenovia 2, Marcellus 1

The Lakers keep proving why they are one of the best local squads around with a win over the Mustangs. This now improves their record to 5-1-1. Jackson Wright and Brody Coleman both scored a goal for the Lakers in the win.

Girls Soccer Marcellus 4, Cazenovia 1

The lady Lakers were unable to get a win over Marcellus. Julia Reff scored the lone goal for Cazenovia. This drops Caz to 3-4 on the season.

Utica Proctor 0, Canastota 2

The Raiders get over the .500 mark with this win over Utica Proctor, scoring their two goals in the second half.
