Despite the loss, the Cougars gather to honor teacher; more local scores

- By Oneida Dispatch oneidadispatch @medianewsgroup.com

The lady Cougars soccer team has had an admirable start to their season. Despite the skepticism of a season even occurring, they have made the best out of it so far. With a fast 4-1 beginning of the year, the Cougars were looking to carry on that momentum to earn another win. But the Cougars were unable to take home a win after getting shut out by Cincinnatus 6-0. Multiple missed shots, and a weak offense led Stockbridge Valley to drop their second loss of the year.

Even though the Cougars lost, it doesn’t matter. Along with the spectators, they were there to honor the life of Stockbridge Valley art teacher Sarah Bennati, who tragically passed away. Ms. Bennati was a massive inspiration for all of the students that walked through her door. Sarah taught art for grades 7-12 for over twenty years at Stockbridge Valley Central School and cared deeply about the special group of friends she developed over the years. She cherished her

students and advocated for those in need. So while the lady Cougars didn’t take home the victory, they played their hearts out to admire and honor the life of a teacher, a mentor, and a friend.

You will be missed, Ms. Bennati.
