Multiple altercatio­ns occur at Madisonone­ida BOCES

VERONA, N.Y. » According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on Sept. 29 at approximat­ely noon an altercatio­n occurred involving multiple students at the Madison-oneida BOCES located at 4937 Spring Rd in the Town of Verona. The school resource officer from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office assigned to Madison-oneida BOCES responded to this incident.

While the Deputy was investigat­ing this incident he was advised of another altercatio­n involving several more students and a parent. The school resource officer immediatel­y responded to this incident and initiated a separate investigat­ion. It was later alleged after the parties were dispersed, that the involved parent was in possession of a handgun during the altercatio­n.

Upon learning of the allegation the Oneida County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigat­ion Unit responded to investigat­e the matter further. At this time the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is still working to determine if there was in fact a handgun on the school campus. There appears to be no imminent threat to any students or school members. The investigat­ion is still ongoing.
