CANASTOTA . . . Suzanne L. (Klahs) Monette, 73, of 400 Lamb Avenue, Canastota, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Oneida Health, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on February 9, 1948, in Syracuse, the daughter

of the late Junior and Margie (French) Klahs. Suzanne was raised

and educated in Canastota and was a 1967 graduate of Canastota High School, and later received a Floral Management and Operations Degree from Cornell University in 1988.

She was a Produce Manager at the former Canastota Big M Market, and she later worked at the former Diemolding Corporatio­n in Canastota. Suzanne enjoyed gardening, playing guitar and singing, and bird watching.

She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Memorial Post #600 in Canastota, and the

Durhamvill­e Veterans’ Ladies Auxiliary. Suzanne was an active member of the American Legion Charles Miller Post #140 Auxiliary in Canastota, where she held all of the ofàces, including being the President for 10 years, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, and an active member of the Funeral Honor Guard for 35 years.

She is survived by a brother, Danny Klahs of Durhamvill­e; a sister, Star Boylan of Canastota; nieces and nephews including, Jennifer and William Hook, and Angel Boylan all of Canastota, and Jamie Boylan of Cleveland, NY; great-nieces and great-nephews, including, Katelyn, Kristen, and Kyle Hook; and a sister-in-law, Betsy Klahs of Oregon. She was predecease­d by three brothers, Spike, Gary, and Jerry Klahs.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Suzanne’s funeral will follow visitation on Friday at the funeral home at 12:00 noon with the Rev. William M. Wilcox ofàciating. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery.

American Legion Charles Miller Post #140 Auxiliary, 325 S. Peterboro Street, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
