Chris Peto secures 300 wins

Chris Peto has been the Stockbridge Valley softball head coach for 20 years. 16 league titles and 4 sectional titles are just a couple of the accolades under his belt. Now he gets to add 300 wins to that collection. After a trip to Brookfield, the Cougars took down CCL opponent, the Beavers, 4-0. This game packed so much of a punch. Not only did it mark Peto’s 300th win, but the Cougars also took over as the best softball squad in the CCL with a league record of 5-0. And as the cherry on top, Abby Reed threw a perfect game.

“We came out and did what we needed to do today. Abby was brilliant in the circle. She was hitting her spots and mixing her pitches and just worked so hard the past few weeks to get to this point,” coach Peto said.

Abby Reed was sparked the offense for Stockbridge. After 3 scoreless innings, Stockbridge secured two runs in the top of the fourth after an Abby Reed 2 RBI double. Sarah Hofmeister and Alissa Mazzye knocked in the other two runs.

Reed ended her historic day going 2-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI while throwing 7 innings, 0 ER, 0 H, 10 K.

“Getting 300 is amazing. Just shows how long I’ve been doing this for. But 300 wins in

a career is amazing,” Peto ended with.

After this win, the Cougars now sit with a 5-2 overall record with a league record. The Cougars have a stretch of 3 games in a row next week and look to carry this momentum.
