Entry level 2023 G70 keeps Genesis on the map

- By Marc D Grasso

2022 was a good year for manufacturers and consumers alike, but 2023 is here!

While the consumer market seems to still be red-hot and manufacturers are pressed to produce more vehicles, Genesis continues to evolve as a economical upscale option. In Grasso’s Garage this week, we notice this evolution on a more rapid scale with more models becoming available and some getting revitalized. The 2023 G70 is their smallest sedan in the fleet, and in my opinion the most appealing.

Our Sport Prestige model tester was beautiful, the nicest vehicle in the Genesis fleet in my opinion. Its curvatures, ride height, comfort and aesthetics are second to none. Wrapped in Siberian Ice, an off-white snow-like color and Sevilla Red interior with redseat belts. An 8 — inch infotainment system leads the interior with its protruding location in the center stack. Siriusxm, Apple Carplay and Android Auto all come standard while riding on 19-inch wheels was an upgrade. We noticed $8,600 in options which included a sunroof, dark chrome grille, Lexicon Premium Audio, Electronic suspension, Brembo brakes, heads-up display and a power trunk.

“Genesis’ recipe for success in the entry-luxury sedan category seems pretty straightforward, yet surprisingly few competitors have executed it as effectively as the G70. Buyers in this segment want attractive styling wrapped around a high-quality and cosseting interior. They also expect at least a modicum of driver engagement and enjoyment, and fuel efficiency that shields them from excessive gas station visits. The Genesis G70 delivers everything an entry-luxury sedan buyer expects, and does so at a substantially lower price than competitors. Those traits helped the G70 win North American Car of the Year in 2019, and the model has benefitted from subtle improvements since then, maintaining its appeal in this highly competitive segment.” mentions Karl Brauer, Executive Analyst with iseecars.com.

For me, the G70 is a really nice option for the right price. It serves a lot of purpose while looking great. The 3.3T engine is certainly a must, as the power and performance is unmatched. With 365 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft.

of torque, the G70 3.3T Sport Prestige is almost perfect.
