VERONA- Wesley B. Trunko, 96, formerly of Collins Road, passed away Friday evening, December 30, 2022, in the Extended Care Facility of Oneida Health, with his family at his side. Born in Higginsvil­le on November 26, 1926, he was the son of Basil and Eugenia Ortynski Trunko. Wesley lived on the family farm in Verona his whole life and was a graduate of Verona High School, Class of 1944. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Disburger in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on December 14, 1947. Betty passed away on May 6, 2013. Prior to his retirement, Wesley was employed by Rome Strip Steel as a truck driver for more than thirty-two years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Hermitage Hunting Club. Surviving are: one daughter, Karen (Paul) Litwak of Verona; one son, David (Nancy) Trunko of Wallingfor­d, CT; four grandchild­ren, Scott (Elizabeth) Litwak, Marybeth Albro, Jordan (Jason) Law and Avery Trunko; nine great-grandchild­ren, Andrew and Katelyn Litwak, Jakob, Kaleb, Lukas, Mikah and Nikole Albro and Owen and Colin Law; A sisterin – law Joyce Trunko and several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by five siblings, Michael, Ann, Elizabeth, Joseph and Louis. Funeral services will be held from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at a time and date to be announced in the spring with interment at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Contributi­ons may be made to the Extended Care Facility Activities Fund 323 Genesee Street, Oneida, NY 13421 or to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 4897 Old Oneida Road, Verona, NY 13478.
