This new doc­u­men­tary pro­duced by Maria Shriver tells one woman’s story, but her sit­u­a­tion is one that’s all too fa­mil­iar to many. Gil­bert, who lives in Ten­nessee, is a sin­gle mother who strug­gles to raise her three chil­dren on a nurs­ing as­sis­tant’s wages. A nu­clear holo­caust on Earth nearly a century ago spared 400 space-sta­tion dwellers. Now, with re­sources dwin­dling up there, the sta­tion com­mu­nity’s lead­ers send 100 young people back to Earth to see if it’s hab­it­able. Isa­iah Wash­ing­ton, El­iza Tay­lor, Paige Turco, Thomas McDonell and Eli Goree star in this new drama se­ries. Doll & Em 10-10:25 p.m., HBO

Real-life best friends Emily Mor­timer ( The News­room) and Dolly Wells ( Brid­get Jones’s Diary) are the stars of this new semi-im­pro­vised com­edy se­ries from across the pond. Mor­timer’s Em is a Hol­ly­wood ac­tress, and Wells’ Doll is her child­hood best friend, who comes to work for her as her per­sonal as­sis­tant af­ter a bad breakup. Jonathan Cake and Aaron Himel­stein also star.

The par­ents-to-be are killed in an ac­ci­dent, and their will spec­i­fies that the baby’s aunt will have cus­tody, but her con­trol­ling mother-in­law (Mimi Kuzyk) has other ideas. As Sea­son 2 of the his­tor­i­cal drama se­ries about a young Leonardo Da Vinci opens, the Pazzis are mak­ing their move, while Leonardo (Tom Ri­ley) takes a gam­ble for Florence’s fu­ture, and Riario (Blake Rit­son) makes some head­way in his search for the Book of Leaves. Laura Had­dock and El­liot Cowan also star in The Blood of Man.
